I was at a friend's house with a couple of fellow travellers as we listened to Radio Luxembourg ('208 on the medium wave') as they broadcast a first set of the GD Europe '72 tour.

Apart from a couple of live releases and some bootleg LPs bought in Carnaby Street this was it for us. We couldn't get as far away as Bickershaw, so with a reel to reel recorder we sat entranced and silent.

For those who don't know about Radio Luxembourg in those days what you got was a few moments of clear signal followed by a sound that drifted in and out as if affected by the wind. That had a significant effect on PITB, and possibly even improved it.

Later we made CDs from the original recording, and even though I have a great SBD (not from the box set) I still like to get out the older one and reminisce, which is how I plan to spend a good part of this evening.

Was anyone else here listening that night ?
